Runner Error: Invalid Bacweb Application

By PC Link ·
I am installing Win98 on an AMD 1.7 pc that I just built. The installation went through just fine but I am getting this error once it reaches the desktop "Runner Error: Invalid Backweb Application id # 861342". I can click ok on it and there seems to be no problems and all aplications work fine. I have downloaded all updates and still no resolve. There are no conflicts on the system and it runs smoothly. Microsoft doesn't mention anything about it on the knowledge base. Any ideas would be greatful.

It sounds like you installed your OS with a set of OEM Hewlett-Packard CDs. You should be able to remove Backweb in Add/Remove Programs. If not, run msconfig and in the startup tab uncheck Backweb and reboot.

Didn't install with those cd's. Removed Backweb agent as stated (which was actually the Western Digital software that I used to format the drive and all), but it only caused more problems resulting in another rebuild.
