Running exe files on Linux

By mail_ap ·
What can be the strategy to customize dosbox or wine to run Tally accounting software on linux
OR develop such an application from scratch ,ie,
not using any dosbox or wine but restructuring the kernel?

Can you elaborate what you mean by restructuring the kernel?

Even TALLY eis (Enterprise edition) is only for more features. So if it works in Windows (as Tally does), it should work in Wine.

I believe Tally has a hardware lock attached to the parallel port. Not sure how that would be handled in Linux with it's layered approach (compared to DOS). Any how tos?

Apparently the problem about WINE is the number of download options. You must correctly choose the Linux distro, kernel and windows version to get a better chance of success.

Also, it might be a bit slow.

As to redeveloping such an app. Forget it. If anyone did that (or even 25%) they would make a killing.
