i am not a gamer so talking thru my hat. here is my shotgun approach to fixing you. first, run adaware se to remove spyware. then, install all critical windows updates including for internet explorer. the install program updates if available for xp. then install latest version of directx. see if that helps

Check to see if you are running a PopUp Blocker.

Sometimes it is not your computer but the server that you are trying to connect to is full.

You can update the programs on your computer like java, and direct x but sometimes you have to just be patient with the gaming servers on the net.

Try playing a games that is on the net that you have to play through your cpu but also having to connect to the net to play it with other players to check to see where is the lag?

Your computer or the net itself?

Dude..i didnt even answer yet....but anyways do you have the google toolbar installed? if so make sure you hold down the Ctrl button while you click the link....also yahoo has a built in security option that at the end of your letter there will be a link that says "enable html and links"
