I hate being the bearer of sad tidings, but I’ve just had notification of the death of one of our TR members.
MidniteOne, aka Gordon Shears, passed away very unexpectedly last Thursday. Cause of death was an embollism. It was extremely sudden, with no warning at all.
Although a member for some years, Gordon had only recently taken to posting – like a duck to water, I may add – and was particularly fond of the Friday Yuk. As I’ve already started a Pink Yuk for this week for Tig, can I ask whoever starts next weeks’ to tag it for Gordon? He was particularly proud of being able to find jokes which really did make everyone go “…yuk…”
Originally, Gordon and I got in touch because of a question regarding satnav in the UK. After numerous questions – and a good dose of my sense of humour with regard to UK roads! – we were corresponding on a regular basis regarding all kinds of everything, including families, friends, holidays, health etc.
Although we’d only been corresponding for a number of months, I will miss his one-liners and humour (especially on a Monday morning, when he used to start the week by commenting on the Yuk) as well as his quirky outlook on all things.
It would please him greatly knowing that before he left us, he changed his avatar to a pink ribbon to support Tig. And so it will remain.
The world is poorer for his leaving.
His wife requested that I was informed of his passing, and knowing how tight a community this can be at times, I needed to pass this info on.
Please join with me in sending sympathy, commiserations and love to his family and his work colleagues, who are extremely shocked at his very sudden passing.
