Safe to temporarily move my user pofile under Documents & Settings

by alrosenbloom . Updated 17 years, 5 months ago

I have less than 1 gig of space left on the C partition on my hard drive. I would like to defragment the C drive. My user profile under C:\Documents & Settings is almost 4 gigs. Both Windows and Diskeeper 2007 tell me there is not enough space to do an adequate defrag job. I have 7% space left on my C drive. I have already deleted all the programs I am knowledgeable about and feel comfortable deleting. Generic advice to “remove programs you’re no longer using” would not be helpful.

Could I temporary move my user profile folder to my external hard drive, defragment my C drive and paste back in my user profile? I understand that there might be some files in my user profile that also need defragmenting.

Pros and cons for doing this?

Thanks.
