SAP LICENSE QUESTION

By oscarlr ·
Hi:
We have SAP R/3 Licences, using SAP version 4.6b, and we are planning to migrate to the newest version, but SAP told us that we have R/3 license, and we cant get the lastest version ECC5.0 or ECC6.0 because it is a different product (MYSAP ERP), the only path is to migrate to Sap R/3 4.7 and stay there or pay extra fee to change our R/3 Licenses to MySAP ERP licenses and could get the ECC5.0 or ECC6.0
We are current with the pay of the SAP license maintenance, and have invested on SAP a lot, how they told me that our product only could be update to version 4.7? What happened with our maintence and all the new versions?
The version 4.7 is only planned to be on maintenance until 2009, then what? we have to change our product license to MySAP ERP?
Does any one knows of any similar situation? What we could do?
If you know of similar situations please give and advice.

Regards

Oscar

Talk to your SAP VAR to see if you have a licence trade in option available to you.

Beyond 2009 you also have the option of customer specific maintenance. According to SAP 'maintenence never ends'

Choppit:
Thks for your answer, only to complement, I talk with our sales executive from SAP, he said that we have to pay for the upgrade of the licences.
In the maintenance we have to pay extracharge 2% or 4% (plus the 17%), only to obtain maintenance? no more product upgrades? I think this is very expensive solution, and stay forever in version 4.7
Do you have a similar situation?

SAP LICENSE QUESTION

Hello Oscar,

In SAP they have different patches that needs to be applied for an application to run continuously. Also, the version 4.6b which you are using is the older version and the last version of SAP R/3 came was 4.7 which they are talking about.
All the newer versions of SAP are not called MYSAP ERP and its a new product all-to-gather from SAP.

Yes, you are right as per my knowledge too, SAP R/3 4.7 is to stay under maintenance until 2009 only.

Thus you will have to pay for the licenses for MYSAP ERP (either ECC 5.0 or ECC 6.0).

Sorry dear, but can't help it.
