SAS 9.0 Certification

By gabefwilliams ·
I just started a job as an analyst with a bank. A part of my job entails dealing with SAS 9.1. I have spent the last 7 weeks reading from 'the Little SAS Book" and another book on the SAS lnaguage by Jaffee. I understand the Basics of Data and Proc steps now and I have put together some elementary code. My manager thinks that I need to get more exposure by going to a course on the data step where I will get the opportunity to work with more code and get some hands on experience under the supervision of people who have the full time to do this. One problem is to decide between choosing training from a local users group or doing the training at the SAS institute.
I want to know two things:
Should I do the certification with a local users group or do it at a SAS institute?
Is an advanced Data Step course the way to go or are there other courses that you think I should take?
