SATA Hard Disk problem

By nanakontihene ·
I am new to SATA. I have installed two 300Gig SATA HDDs in a new PC I am building. Unfortunately, only one of them shows up in "My Computer" as drive C: How can I get the other HDD to show as drive ?

For the first time in my adventures with PCs, I tried setting up RAID with the two HDDs. My setback is that I need to boot the PC initially with an "XP startup floppy disk with CD-ROM support" Can somebody out there help me with such a disk or direct me to where I can download it from?

To get the second drive to show up go to Computer Management Drives and Format the unformatted Drive. It will then show up. If you have a Optical drive in the system you will most likely have to move it to a different letter designation first or the second HDD will not come up as D Drive but the next available drive letter.

To create a RAID Array you should be loading from the CD and then pressing the F6 key to load the RAID Drivers before continuing to install Windows. You don't need a Boot Floppy to setup the RAID Array but after you press the F6 key at the beginning of the setup procedure the Windows XP setup will continue like normal but when it reaches the end of the primary setup installation it will then ask for the drivers for the RAID which will need to be on the Root off the Floppy that you are loading from.

If for some reason you just have to have an XP Boot Floppy you can get one from here
