Sata Hard Drive Setups

By bruce.medelpad ·
I installed a new second SATA hard drive. It is installed correctly and reads the right letter as its location,it is formatted and has just one partition. I would like to debug my windows XP pro by doing a clean install on the new drive to eliminate the problems with the old OS. I need ideas on the setup as I would like to put Unbuntu on the larger drive to try it out.
Give me your tips.

Easiest first

Set the new drive as the C: drive and install.

If you can set the drive as the boot drive in BIOS setup, try that.

If you are going to install Ubuntu anyway, you can use the boot loader (I don't know which Ubuntu uses) to select the boot volume at start up. You could also download GRUB by itself and us it to set up multi-boot without installing a Linux first.

TR Hint: Post questions with "Ask A Question" rather than "Start a Discussion" :)
