SATA & IDE WILL NOT BOOT XP

by tech . Updated 17 years, 9 months ago

I have a Bootable 120Gb IDE Drive with Windows XP Media Installed.
I just installed 2 x 500gb SATA Samsung Hard Drives with a New PCI SATA Controller with 2x internal Ports. Current Driver installed for NON RAID configuration.
My Problem being:
When trying to Boot the computer with the SATA Drives connected I get the black screen telling me the 2 drives have been discovered and press CTRL-s to go into the RAID setup if required, a few seconds later the screen goes black and nothing happens.
I shut down and disconect the 2 SATA drive cables from the drives and reboot, I get the flash screen discovering the PCI SATA Controller with no drives, then Windows Boots without problem.
Once booted into Windows I can connect the SATA drive cables and the drives are discovered and mounted within MyComputer, I have Partioned both drives to 250GB each and Set the 4x drive letters as D,E,F,G, then numbered my CD/DVD’s to H,I and my Recovery Partion to R
System is a 2002 HP Pavillion 883n with 2GB RAM and 2.6Ghz Pntium 4 CPU Raedon 9600 256 G/Card
I have not tried it with IDE Drive removed as I’m sure I will just have a non operating system and no way to access the recovery partion, which I have a copy on one of the sata Drives.

Any useful help will be apprieciated
