SATA installation of XP doesn't see IDE hard drive

By killer ·
I did a fresh install of XP on a SATA hard drive. It runs great but I don't see the old IDE hard drive which I know is still attached. Does anyone know what to do?

Does it show in the BIOS?

If it's not being detected in the BIOS, it may be dead. What shows in there?

If it is showing in BIOS

Boot Windows and look in Drive Management to see how the IDE Drive is shown there and post back.

To get to Drive Management left click on Start then Control Panel, select Classic View and left click on Administrative Tools then when the next window opens left click on Computer Management and when the new window opens look down the left pane to Drive Management and left click on that.

If the drive shows up in Disk Management, you can assign a new drive letter to it, so that it shows up in Explorer.
