Sata raid array with eide boot disk

by rgbarber . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

Hi I am new here and I have a question. I have been doing system admin for quite a while and doing some PC type work. This is my second PC build.

I recently purchased a bear-bones system that included an Intel DR35DP mother board and a due core quad processor. The system came with an eide disk and I added a second. I also acquired 3 500 gig sata disks and have them connected to the mother board.

I have built the system using xp pro service pack 2 and the system is up and functional.

Now I want to enable the sata disks and setup raid 5. I have the Intel documentation that states there is a way to do this and to see the documentation for manually adding raid support. However the Intel documentation does not have anything anywhere I search about that topic.

Looking through the dos settings I can see the sata disks are listed but grayed out. I also have a new Phillips 20x DVD recorder connected to an SATA slot and it works fine.

I have sent an email to Intel inquiring about this but I have not received any answers yet.

The mother board supports raid and I have a floppy disk with the driver on it. (Unfortunately the mother board does not have a slot for the floppy so I will have to use a usb connected floppy or copy the driver over to a CD on another system.)

Has anyone here set up a system with this configuration? If so how did you accomplish it?
