Save to File (Hibenate) feature may be incompatible with FAT32
With some BIOS by Phoenix Technologies, you may not be able to use the feature Save to File if your primay (boot) drive is formatted using FAT32.
If the PhDISK utility is earlier than 5.0,you will need to update the utility in order to use Save to Disk feature
Also try flashing the BIOS to update it.

Hi when the laptop goes into sleep/powerdown mode due to low battery it dumps the status of the machine into a seperate partion on the hard drive so that when the laptop is fully charged or running from the power supply you can continue where you left off.
the usual cause for this message is that the hard drive has been repartitioned without the save to disk partition, down load the manufacturers set up software if you wish to reinstall this feature.

Hope this helps

I had to do this myself after adding memory to my laptop. This is from memory so bear with me.

phdisk must be run from a DOS prompt. A DOS window does not work. Restart the machine and check the Restart in DOS mode button.

The help switch is either "phdisk ?" or "phdisk /?". This will tell you to use "phdisk /create" to create a new file of sufficient size for the saved information. I forget the name of the file that is created, but yours may have accidentally been deleted causing the problem.

On my NEC, the phdisk program is located at c:\NECUtils. Your manufacturer may have an update if needed.
