Save/Transfer Wireless Networks and Keys

By StevenRosson ·
I am looking for a way to save networks and keys I have stored on a computer for use on another. I'd like to find out if these are in a file somewhere or stored in the registry, where they are located, and whether I can copy them somewhere else. The OS to copy from is XP Home SP2. Will appreciate any help.

Not sure what you mean by "saving a wireless network."

If you need to export the settings on your wireless router to import them into another, you can do that from the web management console of the router, possibly.

If you're talking about saving the wireless connection profiles on your workstation, no clue.

Sorry, I'll be more clear. I've connected to a ton of wireless networks for which my laptop remembers keys. I would hate to have to re-enter all of these keys for my new machine, so I'm looking for a way to port them over in bulk.

If you are talking about established WiFi connection on a NB then the Files & Settings Transfer Wizard should move these across to the new NB but it will most likely bring everything else as well.

Trying this one more time ... I bought a new laptop and want to be able to connect to all my existing wireless networks without having to enter all my keys again. I'd like to transfer the stored keys from one computer to another, or at the very least be able to see them all in plain text.
