Save Window doesn't alphabetize list

By SCrow ·
When ever I go to save or download a file, the small browser window that opens doesn't display the folders and files in alphabetical order. I can click on the detail icon, then alphabetize them. Thats time consuming. Is there a registry setting thatmay affect this?

Thanks,
Steve

Save Window doesn't alphabetize list

Hello again Steve!

I believe you need to adjust your view settings. Go to Folder Options and find the spot (depending on OS) where you can set the "Retain view settings" option. Next, get to one of those download windows, then right-click inside it (NOT on a file!), select "Arrange Icons -> By Name", then "Arrange Icons -> By Type". What you should end up with is all the icons sorted by type, and in alphabetical order with each type. Save/open a file like normal, and it should retain these view settings unless you alter them. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have questions. Adrian@isc-unlimited.com

Thank you for replying, let me clarify, the problem only seems to happen when downloading files and browsing to the folders where I want the download to happen. Right clicking in the window, selecting 'arrange icons' and then by name does not changethe dislplay, so maybe that area has a problem?

Thanks,
Steve
