Saving internet pages in a browser

By Luminous ·
Every now and then when I view a site that has useful info I want to save the complete page. I make the relevant selectoins (File, Save As, Web Page complete).

After doing this the browser proceeds to re-download every item that is currently on the screen. Sometimes it takes ages to download all of the info that you are currently viewing! I do not understand why it cannot just dump the data it is currently displaying rather than having to go and fetch it again from the site.

Any ideas why it does this? Also, is there a fast easy way to stop it ! :)

For faster saving of a web page, file, save as, drop down menu save as type, choose: web page html only.

Thanks for the tip for faster downloading.

Do you know why it takes so long using the other method. Afaik it should have all the informtaion anyway, as it is currently displaying it to you

Soory to put "unacceptable" as it won't let me comment without closing the question otherwise

It takes longer to save a complete web page because you will also be saving pages that the currently saved page links to and will be able to display them also.

Saving as html only does not offer this ability.
