We currently have a single fileserver set up with a Per Server license allowing 500 concurrent connections. With each additional PC added to the network, we have never needed to configure any CAL or anything with them for them to be able to connect and share with the fileserver. This makes sense since the server has a per server license…right?
My problem is that we have a canon c3220 printer which allows you to scan images and save them to a network file server. However, when I try to connect to the file server, it will work the first time, and then on subsequent attempts, it will fail and is unable to view the other workstations on the network until I restart the printer.
Would this be a CAL issue, as in the printer needs a CAL? I wouldn’t think that it would since the server is set up in per server mode, but I am unsure about all of the licensing logistics. We had a similar problem with an older HP performing the same task…
The printer is able to scan and save images to any other workstations on the network as long as they have file sharing set up appropriately. Also, when connecting to the file server from the printer to save the scanned image, I use the administrator login info that I use to log into the file server as if I were sitting in front of it. Do I need to set up secondary accounts or something?
