This week I installed SBS 2003 standard on my network that currently holds 5-10 users. The Server has a single Nic setup and directly connected to a switch. We currently have a web/mail/domain host with 1and1.com. I’ve been using the pop3 connector within the past few days and i’d like to switch over to SMTP for the added features (mostly for the faster service, really not a fan of the 15min wait with POP3)
In order to config SMTP I understand that I would need a MX record to forward ALL my traffic to my DynDNS address. is this correct?
Do I just add a new MX record (my DynDNS address) with a hight Priority?
is there anything else im missing?
Also, can someone guide me into fully configuring SMTP on my sbs 2003 server? Do I completely ignore the pop3 connector? and create a SMTP connector through exchange?
if anyone can help me out with converting to SMTP from POP by providing me with a guide id very much appreciate it.
Thanks.
