We just installed a SBS 2k3 server on its separate domain from the SBS 2k server. When we only had the 2k server up the broadband connection worked fine. When we only had the 2k3 server up it connected to the internet as well on the broadband connection. With both up only one will talk to the broadband connection. The DHCP and DNS were disabled on the 2k server for the instillation of the 2k3 server. When both servers were brought up the 2k3 server would connect to the broadband connection and the 2k server would not. I believe that the DNS and DHCP settings are exactly the same for both servers considering that the 2k3 is slated to replace the 2k server. Due to this an election was held to determine which server was the correct DNS and DHCP server. Since the 2k server is what our organization is currently using the DHCP and DNS for the 2k3 server was disabled and the 2k server?s DNS and DHCP were enabled for productivity and to return the network to and operative state.
ISA is on both servers. Symantec Enterprise 10 is on the 2k3 server and Symantec Enterprise 8 is on the 2k server.
Does anyone know why this is? It an IP address thing in the DNS and DHCP? Any help would be of use.
