SBS Server 2003

by nickcolyer . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

Hi there

I’ve recently taken over support for an SBS 2003 Server with up to 6 users.

I am getting some strange errors which I wonder if people can help with?

1. POP3 connector for one of the users – brings up an error in the event viewer but the mail does download correctly, except it remains on the server. The usernames and passwords have been checked and are just like the other 5 users who are hosted with 1&1. Any idea why the mail gets left on their server and why we keep getting an error?

2. Network printers connected to a server

Is it always worth adding these to the active directory which they are already, or is it possible to install them directly on the indvidiual machines bypassing the server?

The problem is one of the all in one HP models is a printer/scanner/copier and the scanning function seems to have trouble on some of the machines but not others? It says it is connected in the HP imaging monitor but when you try to scan it says it can’t connect to usb but there is no way to change the setting. It prints fine over the network, scans fine into word but just not in the HP software?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
