SBS2003 - Remote Web Workplace - Public DNS record?

By allenx ·
I am setting up Remote Web Workplace on SBS2003.

I can access the RWW from inside the network but cannot connect from oustide the network using http://staticIPaddress/remote

I have allowed access through our router (this also handles DHCP not the server)

Do I need to ask my ISP to create a record in the Public DNS pointing to my server?

This is the first time I have set this up and I'm struggling a bit.

Thanks in advance

having a public dns pointing to your ip.

If you have a website host outside your network, you can add a subdomain and redirect that to your ip.

but it seems that your ip may not be publicly available on standard ports. You can try getting your webserver to listen on port 8080 and then try accessing http://your ip number:8080/remote
