Scale PPTP on RAS Server

Hi,

We are using NT 4.0 RAS, and (VPN) PPTP enabled. Microsoft said that 256 (VPN) connections could be established at the same time.

My question is that for every connection, how much system resouces will be allocated for that connection, especially memory, processor threads, disk space? The goal is to evaluate if the current system can handle or not.

By the way, w2k is not on the road, and NAT is aviable or private addrss could be used.

Any resource pointers, suggestions, and tips are appreciated very much!

I would concentrate on I/O as this will be the main bottleneck.
There is little memory / processor usage during a VPN connection.
Are you planning on implementing MSPROXY?
Average inbound connection rate (56k connections...)?
Average concurrent connections?

This will help determine the overall raw bandwidth connection to the internet required
