Scan and fix errors in an old system.dat

by 3iron . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

My win98 system crashed and corrupted the Registry. Unfortunately, the last 5 backups of the Registry were a year old as this had been turned off unwittingly in msconfig. I’ve tried to replace the user.dat and system.dat files in DOS with the user.dat and system.dat from the rbbad.cab file which contains the very latest registry files but with errors. When I run scanreg /fix, it gives me an error at 93% of system.dat.

So, does anyone know how I can scan and fix errors in system.dat, *not* the one running on my system (which is a year old) but the one on my desktop (from the rbbad.cab file)?

Hope you can help.

Thanks.
