ScanDisk

I’ve tried running ScanDisk numerous times with no success, i’ve closed all open programs on the system except explorer and systrey but I keep getting the same error message when I start to run Scandisk, which is Scandisk has restarted this operation Ten times with no success check to see if any programs are running. Thats the message I get everytime I try to run Scandisk plus my computer locks up everytime I do this as well what’s the way I can solve this problem?
