I would appreciate some help for solving the throubles I have with HP Scanjet 5p.
With Windows 98 SE I have had it working so and so only for limited time.. Actually it does not work and I am experiencing two strange facts.
1-If I tray to reinstall scanning software either the original old HP software either the new HP software, when the installation starts, after normal preliminars, I get the following advice:
Serious error
Unknown compression error: -1
when I click OK it reappears and so on for many times, finally I get the advice:
Serious
An error is happened, installation not succesfull. Close all applications and try again (Error 32).
When I click OK it goes back to desktop.
2-If I try to uninstall SCSI card, it is a Symbios Logic 53C416-NB, either if I have previously disabled it in Device Manager other not, when the PC restarts all goes well until the desktop appears, then the
PC freezes. The only thing I can do is shoot down the PC, reinsert SCSI card, reboot and the PC can work.
I do not tink that what I am experiencing depends from HP software, may be it depends from something wrong in my Windows 98 configuration.
The question is that I am not able to find it.
Obviously I have looked in
Control Panel | System | Device Manager |
and I have not found problems.
May be that in some points I was not very clear because I am translating from italian language and my knowledge of english language
is not very good..
