I bought a scanner(HP4400c) and installed it with no problems. Just followed the instructions and everything went find.
A little while ago I had to reformat my hard drive. Loaded some software on , including my hp desjet printer 722c. Then I decided to install the
scanner. This time not so lucky. The software process goes find. Then it instructs me to shut down and install the scanner itself. I do so going
through my printer. I leave the cd in and reboot. When the computer restarts I get the blue screen with the fatal exception error OE at 0028-00000339. I push a key and it takes me to the cd showing the software is properly installed. But it is only at step 1 . Its as thought it waiting for the next step again (install the scanner. I close it and try to use it and get the message “could not initialize scanner. I have checked the setting and it say it is installed. It shows up in device manger. I had followed all advice in HP help and tried cable, port configuration, bios settings, installing in safe mode, etc. Was not sure about lockdevice and dongles ????. I have tried to reinstall it a number of times no luck PLEASE HELP. I am
teaching at a high school and use my scanner a lot. I need my scanner 🙂
