scanner problems

By cruisin50s ·
I have an Epson Perfection 2580 Photo scanner, which until recently worked perfectly, now when I try to scan,it whirls away tells me the scanner is warming up,then comes back with No Response from scanner.
Yet the scanner is installed properly and the computer diagnostic's show it to be working, I have uninstalled and reinstalled, done virus checks with 3 different virus programs, all clean,I am stumped, would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions

Could very well be that your scanner has died on you.
Try installing it on another pc. If it still doesn't work, say a prayer and buy another one...

Well since the scanner works on a different computer and not yours what have you changed recently?

Is it working on the same OS to the same Patch level if it is them you need to look at your installed software which might be causing a conflict preventing the unit working.

As this is a USB unit you may need new drivers which are available at

or even have a look at the FAQ that Epson have for this unit at

There is one question there that asks why "My Scanner Isn't working" or something like that which may be of assistance to you it's at

Could be related to Office 2003, SP3?

by nhursky In reply to scanner problems

Turns out SP3 for Office 2003 screws up Microsoft Office Document Imaging/Scanning. Check the post, regarding file XSCAN32.PSP.

I was able to get my scanner to work in MODI by using an older version of that file (in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MODI\11.0)
