Scanner troubleshooting

If this is a parallel port scanner, and you have it connected between your PC and your printer, you may need to turn the printer on for the scanner to work.
Also, check device manager for what type of printer port you have installed.
Most scannersrequire an ECP/EPP parallel port to work.
If you need to change the port type, that should be in BIOS settings. Unless the port is on a plug-in card. Then you will need to check with the card mfg for how to set the mode to ECP/EPP.

If it is a USB device, make sure that your USB ports are enabled. (there should be a USB root hub, and ports in device manager)
If not, you need to enable the USB port from BIOS settings.
You may also need to install updated drivers for your motherboard / chipset.

If you don't know who made these, try a tool like Belarc Advisor www.belarc.com to provide you with the system information.
