Janet calls about her new computer. She ordered a system with a single processor, but she says Windows XP Pro is reporting 2 CPUs.
Referring to the scenerio above, why does Janet’s OS report having 2 CPUs?
1) Win XP Pro can support 2 CPUs, so it automatically reports 2.
2)The motherboard and CPU support hyper threading that excecutes 2 treads in paralell on each processor.
3)Win XP uses an advanced multi-threading kernal that runs 2 threads on each processor.
4)This is an error with Win XP Pro SP2 tha requires a hotfix from Microsoft.
5)The mother board can support 2 CPUs, and the OS is detecting the 2nd CPU socket.
