By marlond ·
Is it a good idea to schedule weekly defrag at mid nigth when no one is around on a win2k server, if so how, I can schedule it to open the defrag program but how do I schedule it to open it and start it?

Yes scheduling a defrag when no one is using the system is a good idea. You cannot schedule the 2K defrag program as it is opened and controlled by an msc. The executable that is used is called dfrgntfs.exe and is in c:\winnt\system32 but you cannot run this from a commandline.

You will have to look at something like Diskeeper
