Scheduling Services.

By pbutler ·
Is it possible to schedule services to stop and start in NT 4.0. I need cetain services stopped at 5:00 A.M and restarted again at 6:00 A.M. The key is to schedule them at a certain time, I know I can set them up to do an automatic, a manual, or disable them, however, no one is here at 6:00 in the morning to do this. Any information will be extremely beneficial.

First, make sure the Scheduler service is running.

Then you can use the AT command.

At the command prompt enter the following two commands.

AT 5:00 every:M,Tu,W,Th,F "net stop <service name>"

AT 6:00 every:M,Tu,W,Th,F "net start <servicename>"

This will stop the service at 5 and restart it at 6 Monday-Friday. You can make it every day if you want.

The complete syntax for the AT command is available by typing AT /? at the propmt.

If you have the NT Resource Kit you can useWinAT, which is a GUI and eliminates the need to use the command propmt.
