Sci-Fi 30 year old question …

by techrepublic . Updated 17 years, 2 months ago

I remember reading a science fiction book as a child (I think it was a Robert Heinlien short story). A space ship with a crew of men and women had crash landed on a hostile planet that was still able to support human life. The conditions shortened human birth-death to a week, or a month…something very short. Their Darwinian adaptation was collective memory of the entire human race.

Does anyone here recall such a book, and if so, what the name may have been …!?

Thanks,
Bahram saghari
