Scraner Problums

By johnsteiner33 ·
How do I get an HP scanjet 3200c to go into a Dell running Windows Xp Pro to run with no problums? I have downloaded the new drivers, but after installing the drivers and restarting the computer crashed. The org. is a non-profit and has a limated budget. They had enough money to get two new computers but no money to get any peripherals. It would be very helpful if someone could let me know or find a way to install the scraner without having it pc crash.

I dont have an answer for you but a few suggestions.
There is a running issue between Dell And HP about standards for Parallel ports. HP say's Dell is responsible, Dell say's HP is responsable. (It mostly applies to the OfficeJet products)
--So my first suggestion is to try useing the USB port if it is available on this scanner and you havent already done so.
--In this case make sure that you uninstall all of the old drivers before downloading fresh drivers and attempting to reinstall them. http:\\

1. make sure that the printer port is set to EPP/ECP mode in BIOS settings.

2. Did you install both the driver and the update?

3. Check for Windows Updates. There may be a few updates that are needed for device compatibility, or drivers.
