I am unable to adjust the screen area due to the fact that the slide to make this adustment will not move. I am using windows 98se.on a E-machine model 366 and have increased the RAM from 32 to 130. Thank you for any help you may be able to give meas I have exausted all efforts to correct the problem. The screen is now set at 640 by 480 pixels.

Please reread my previous question. I am unable to change the pixels settings due to the inability to move the adjustment slide. If you can tell me how to set the screen settings to 800×600 pixels without using the the screen area slide found under the settings tab in the display properties window I will be able to take care of this problem. Thanking you again for any help you might be able to give me in this matter.

Sounds like you lost a driver.

It takes up to 4 drivers for proper video operation in W98.

      Chipset AGP mini-port driver.
      (get this from E-Machines)

      DirectX
      (from Microsoft)

      Video card driver.
(again, from E-machines, as the video is likely built into the motherboard)

      Monitor driver.
(if the monitor is not in the list of supported monitors)

Install the drivers in the order listed.

If you still have problems, you may need to enter BIOS settings, and verify that enough memory is allocated to the video system. 16MB to 32MB should be enough.

If you can’t move the slider, it’s an indication that you’re using a generic video driver rather than the one correct for your video card.

      Download AIDA from here:
      http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32
This is a free software and has the advantage of determining your video card AND steering you to the website where upgraded drivers are available for your particular model.

You need driver for the VGA.

If I’m not mistaken, e-machine 366 use ATI 3D Rage Pro Turbo 2X AGP Graphics with 4MB SGRAM

You should be able to download the driver from http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver.html

      Hope that helps.

You probably lost your video driver – follow the link below

      http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/win98/win984112474.html

If this doesn’t help then try finding your monitor driver file (I’ll be happy to help if you can tell what model your monitor is)

      Best of luck
