Screen changing/cycling software

By argentosw ·
We have a plasma screen at work which displays our outstanding helpdesk calls per team etc and we want it to to be able to alternate the display between that display and another showing other stats. The pc that the plasma screen runs from is an xp box. Is there any software we can load that will display the first screen for 30 secs then switch to the second for 30 secs etc and then back to the first screen so that the screen isn't burned by having the one image on it.

None that I've run across yet but you should be able to write a utility in VB to do this easily enough.

You could start off with the piece of code used in Power Toys that changes desktop themes and modify as necessary.

There would be timing issues involved but that is a simple coding matter and instead of reaching for Desktop themes you would have to change the path to the desired programs but it should not be too big a problem. I'm told that VB is very easy to program in although I don't personally use it but it should be an easy option to suit your needs.

Maby you could use the "alt tab" feature in a vb script.

I'm doing something similar with weather conditions. using a plug-in for PowerPoint that update slides while the presentation is running. Google for "LiveImage for PowerPoint" or "LiveWeb for Powerpoint". Set one slide for each graphic, 30 seconds each. Update the graphic files in the background with a batch file and let the plug-in update the presentation.

Don't forget to rate these responses!

Wait a minute, you said XP? XP's "My Pictures Slideshow" screensaver will display all graphics in a directory in rotation. I don't know if it pulls each graphic fresh each time, or it if caches them all and loops through the cache. If it pulls each graphic fresh each time it is displayed, you're good to go with no additional software or programming.

Just a thought;
I may sound awfully silly, but have you thought of using your Screen saver for this.Just set it up and hit preview and let it go.
Just have it display the two pages that you want to and you can set up the time, frequency and length of Display. Unfortunately this would also mean changing the page as the TechInfo changes.
Shot in the Dark?

Aaron :)
