There has been something truly weird happening with my PC over the last couple of days and its driving me crazy trying to figure it out.
Periodically my screen locks spontaneously (like someone pressed Window-L) and I have to Cntrl-Alt-Del to log back in. After logging back in, my mouse no longer is able to click on anything (yet the scroll button works fine). I have limited keyboard functions as well, and I’m forced to shut down (logging off doesn’t work) using control alt delete.
This has happened as I am working, once I was scrolling through an Access Database and once when I was clicking on a web page. It has happened when I was away from my desk.
We do have a new Power Management software that was recently deployed, but I’ve had it for awhile and no one else in the community is having this issue.
I’m on a win network, with XP Pro. I’ve a Dell Optiplex 745 with 2 gig ram and 80 gig drive. I’ve no other problems except for this. At first I thought it was a co-worker yanking my chain, but it has gone on too long for even HIS sense of humor.
Has anyone ever heard of this (or something like it) before? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!
ETA: I’ve tried changing the USB ports of my keyboard/mouse.
