Screen Saver on Redhat 8.0 hangs the com

By Vuitanh ·
I loaded redhat 8.0 on my Thinkpad T20. The system hangs after a few hours with the screen saver running. I disabled the screen saver, it does not hang anymore. What could be the problem? I upgraded to kernel 2.4.18.19.80

I run RH 8.0 on a Dell GX1 workstaion. The screen saver doesn't give me any problems. Could be a memory issue. Some screen savers use more resources than others. The system may not be frozen it may just be running really slow because so much is being written to you swap file. Or maybe up2date is trying to download and install rpms.
How much memory do you have? What other services are you running? Have you tried connecting to it remotely and running top?
