Screensaver Recognition

By linden56 ·
"Display Properties" isn't recognising all of my screensavers even though they're all located in C:\Windows\System . All of these screensavers have been installed correctly, yet "Display Properties" doesn't want to show them all. How can I remedy this? I'm using Windows ME w/256 RDRAMM.For any further info, please ask. Many thanks in advance, Linden.

They may not be WinME compatible ,try right
clicking on them in C:\windows\system & select TEST. Some older savers won't work properly. Some download sites don't tell you what sys they run on others do.

Actually, all of my screensavers work (I've removed those that don't, for whatever reason). When dbl. clicked on they'll run just fine! They don't all show in "display properties" however. Thanks, Linden.

try removing all of the screen saver files (with a .scr extension) to c:\windows folder. If that doesnt work, then your screen saver files are corrupt.

& if they are "indeed" corrupt? What solution?
Actually, I've tried moving them all to the C:\Windows w/o any success. Shouldn't I be able to see .scr when I go to Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>File Types ?? I am not seeing that file extension listed. Would that mean that all of my .scr files are corrupt? The vast majority of them work just fine. It's the most recent ones that don't present themselves in the "display properties".
