Script for automatic update installs?

By cp7212 ·
I help manage 50+ kiosks on a wireless XP Pro platform. I am limited to a client access permission. If the solution requires putting it on the server, my manager will shoot it down, even if it is a good idea. I try to keep all of the kiosks updated, but going to each one manually is very time-consuming. The network is large.

Does anyone know if a script exists (or can be made) to run and install the auto updates after they are d/l'ed? I have the auto-update service on automatic, but that only d/l's them. Thanks.

Once you've updated the systems to service pack 2 there is an option to automatically download AND install updates at a given date and time. You can find this under the sytems properties , automatic updates tab.

Be aware if you do an auto download/install, some will reboot your computer.

Douglas, thanks for the heads-up. I edited the clients' registry to automatically logon securely after reboot for mishaps earlier on.

statyk, thanks for the SP2 info. Our head dept. has not released it to our workstations yet. I will be watching out for it, though.
