Script Virus

Hi
There is a .vbs virus in my computer
I have installed Norton Antivirus 2001 in my computer but Norton is unable to clean Script virus. Norton shows there is a virus in your computer I have also updated my Norton.

How to protect computer from Internet Script virus? Please advice

The best way to protect against getting a virus is to run your virus protection program all the time. And update your virus definations weekly.
Personally I prefer the FitIt Utilities 3.0 to Nortons, as I have had several problems with Nortons.

Here's how to stop worrying about .vbs (and .shs) scripts.

Open up windows explorer and navigate to view/folder options/file types. This is where associations are set up.

Find vbs script file in the list and click on it. Press edit. Note that 'open' is the default. This means if you double click it, it will run! This is the action to change.
Select 'Edit' then press the 'set default' button. Now if a .vbs is double clicked, it will open up harmlessly in notepad.

Do the same for windows scrap objects. You'll have to add the 'edit' action and point it to notepad.
