    SCSI BIOS not loading

    Locked

    by dmclarkhsd ·

I have a SuperMicro 370SSA motherboard that won’t recognize the Adaptec 3940UW SCSI controller. I have moved it to 3 different slots to no avail. The system only has SCSI hard drives and there is no option to select SCSI as a boot device in the BIOS. The SCSI BIOS doesn’t even load. Do I have a bad board? Please help. Thanks!

When you open Bios control panel and and the first option is selected,go down the list where the drives are listed and then use your page up or page down to see if scsi is listed, then save and exit, check the device manager to see if the scsi controller is listed, now check your motherboard manual and see what jumper settings are selected on the board, reload the drivers to your hard ware and reboot the system.

Could be a dumb suggestion, but are you making sure that your IDE channels are disabled in the BIOS? Not to auto, but all the way hard off. I had this problem with an older AZZA board and a 2940 w/no IDE.

also check that a functioning hard drive is connected and spun up at BIOS load time. some drive delay spinning based on thier id. a boot drive should be id 0 or 1 ( never 7). a device set to 7 will disable the whole chain.

Had same problem with Adaptec 19160 SCSI controler. Tried 3 different systems non of them loaded the SCSI. Spent 30 min on the phone with Adaptec Tech Support, going though there solutions. Final problem…Bad controller sent it back got another one plugged it in booted no problem. I do think your board is DOA.
