SCSI HA number changes on server reboot

by darren hancock . Updated 22 years ago

Server: Compaq ML370 Tower Server – PIII/1.13Ghz/256MB

SCSI devices (dual channel): 2 HDD’s (port 2), HP DAT internal tape drive (port 1)

Novell Netware 4.11, Veritas Backup Exec 8.5

Problem: Backup Exec does not recognize tape drive partition when server is rebooted. Before reboot, Hardware Adapter # is 0. (HA:0 ID:1 LUN:0)After reboot, HA # is 1…(HA:1 ID:1 LUN:0)? Note: when all devices are on same SCSI bus, no problems (except HP/Compaq doesn’t support it if it fails, which it has for me… something about data collisions and bad SCSI commands with multiple HDD’s on same bus).

Any thought’s would be greastly appreciated. I need a solution as we have 10 servers with the same SCSI configs, and 2 tape drives have already failed!!! Help.
