SCSI over TCP for a wide format scanner?

By caudleb ·
Is there a way to connect a wide format scanner (scsi interface) directly to our network without using a pc to do so?

I don't know of any device that will currently do this although the concept of SCSI-over-IP is finding some interesting applications in the Storage Area Network space.

But chances are it wouldn't have to much of a PC if it's only job was to serveas an interface appliance between a SCSI port and the network.

You have two poroblems to overcome.
One is a protocol convertor. You need a
device to take scsi and provide an
addressable port address on the
network.
Two is once you have the scanner on the
network have the software talk to it.
If you have existing equipment contact the
manufacture to see if they support this.

Good luck in this venture

Which wide format scanner are you trying to connect? Send me an email with the answer, and I'll leave further comments.
