SCSI server connector

I just installed the external HDD on a server,the external 73GB ArcBlobs drive was connected via SCSI, but the miniture SCSI server connector is a RAID format, hence, the SCSI disk format was initialised to RAID and data deleted. My question is why it’s happened and how to overcome this problem.
