i have several motherboards from socket 7+ to pentiumII/III(older ones). i tried out pc100 and pc133-memories. i do not want to go into much details at the moment.buffered, unregistered, high density cl 2/3 etc. this could be discussed in a separatequestion when i have more facts. on the oldest MMX-mb(No1) all memories were accepted and one single 256mb-133 counts up, pc100 too of course. 1×256(133)+ 1×64(100) are counting up but windows me only shows 256. can i take out the 64mb? because theywould not help. i use one 256/133 because they are cheap(instead of 2×128/100). ok price difference is small. are there 256/100 around.
board 2(mmx) does cut 50% of the pc133. i had to buy pc100. board 3(PII) has fsb 100, is fsb 100 and pc100 related and the cause it does not count up or is it more difficult. on one PIII-board is said 6×133(800mb-processor will be cut to 6×100(600) due to the fact its fsb 100 and if i use pc100. there is a possibility to use 3×256 registered, (ecc evtl) but they are expensive.is are there registered with and without ecc? if they are pc133 the processor could anyway be cut as mentioned above. or do i err. anyway: its not worth investing into old pIII plus sdram because new ddr-ram pentium 4 are very cheap.for 550 usd i get a whole machine here in switzerland.
