Seagate 160GB External Drive w/USB connectin – Write Protected Error

by marleysq . Updated 19 years, 3 months ago

I was able to drag and drop all my music from Laptop A. When I tried to drag and drop pictures on laptop B using the same external drive I keep getting a “write protected” error.

Here are the things I have already tried:

1. Looked for the Switch so I can use it for write, I only see a hole with a key symbol with a “k” on it, but when I poke around the hole, it’s just an empty hole.

2. I tried to reformat, but again I get the error “write protected”

3. Security and rights: I checked to make sure the laptop has write access.

I’m not sure what else to check for. Can anyone help? Thanks
