search in outlook by company name

By dror ·
hi i have Outlook 2003 on WinXP. If i type a name into the contact search box,
it will find it.
If I enter the company name, it says "contact not found"
According to Help, it should be able to locate a contact by searching the
company name.
What can I do to fix this behavior?

Outlook is obviously looking for the contact's display name not the company name. To search contacts based on company name, in the email: click on To > Advanced > Find > enter company name in Company field. You should then see all the people who have that company listed in their profiles.

You can also click "By Company" under Current View to display all companies listed in alphabetical order with the names of each person associated with that company name.

company search in Outlook

I know this is way old, but someone may be looking for an answer as I was, and I'd hate for them not to find any real help. The trick is to go to tools, options, contact options, select default setting for how to file new contacts, and choose an option that includes 'company'. My preference is Last Name, First Name (company). Note that this is 2007, but any prior version of Outlook will have something similar.

The easiest way to get a search-result in all areas of outlook is Lookeen

I use Lookeen, which is a search add-in for Outlook. This tool gives you the search results in tabs (mail, contacts, attachments...)
Lookeen also finds contacts by searching for the company.

If this tool is interesting for you, check the 14-Day-Trial under htt://
