Do they not work at all or are you just looking for an update?
Win2K should be able to use the CDRW and CDROM with generic Win2K drivers.

Are you having problems with them not being found?
Do they show up in your Device Manager list?

The drivers that come with ALL CD-ROM drives are for DOS mode access only.

Under Windows 95 and later, the driver duties for ALL CD-ROM drives are handled by the IDE drivers for the chip-set on the motherboard.

If HP does not offer a W2K driver for the motherboard in your system, you will need to identify the chip-set on the motherboard, and install the chip manufactures reference driver.

A good utility to find out about your hardware is Belarc Advisor from http://www.belarc.com

For CD-RW drives, the driver for recording is actually part of your CD burning application.
You may need an update from the software manufacture.

If you need more assistance, please add a comment with the model number of your PC, and specific details of the problem.

It does sound like the IDE drivers are corrupt.

Personally, I would download and install the proper W2K drivers for the chip-set on the motherboard.

A trick that often works to correct bad IDE drivers on W2K systems is to enter device manager and remove both the CD drives, and ALL 3 IDE controllers.
On re-boot, Windows should find and install the correct drivers.

I appreciate the comments. My CD drives work unless then need to see aucio files say a music CD. I also can not burn CDs anylonger.
Ther error that comes up is that MCI (CD audio) service or the CD-Rom driver is not responding CD player cannot start.
check souds and multi media control panel. Hardware tab to make sure the drivers are installed and active.

This is also when I access CD player.
