Second Hard Drive

By galehickey2 ·
Have XP installed on a small HD,C:, and a CD-RW,. Installed a second HD with XP for space. However, it is now E: with my ROM still being . When I boot up I can choose C: or E:.When I boot up in C: I can "see" E: in My Computer or Windows Explorer. Problem is when I boot up in E: there is no C: listed. Any help

Your C: drive is a master not a slave and E being the 2nd drive is bootable according to how you set it up. Therefore you can boot to E but it is not the primary (master) drive in your computer. Why not just leave C as the master boot drive and simply format E as a slave or extra drive for storage space rather than as a bootable drive? This would be moot if you need a dual boot system. If you need the dual boot, you may need something like boot (partition?) magic. Another possibility is that E may be formatted in FAT, NTFS or FAT32. If it is FAT or FAT32 and C: is NTFS, then E would not be able to read C: anyway.
