Second HDD

By yiotie ·
Hi
My PC runs on Win ME, and i just added a second HDD with Win 2kPro on it as a slave.
When i go to properties of the new HDD it says that is empty, 0 bytes. How can i tell my computer that it is there, so i can run win2kPro.
Thanks
Yiotie

Plug ur hdd as master & then see whether it workd or not.
Run a scandisk on it.
OR Plug it into somebody elses computer and see if the same result.

I don't believe winme will recognize ntfs which would be the format your win2kpro drive is in instead of fat32/16. What you need is a boot manager which would let you swap between the two operating systems, or a drive manager which basically performs the same thing only with hardware switches on the outside of your case. The only other option is to go with one or the other as the only operating system, or performing the disconnect by hand removing cables and enabling the other drive.

Switch the Win2k drive to your primaryand the ME drive as your secondary. Boot up Win2k and edit your boot.ini to give you a dual boot option, pointing to the win ME installation. Then, when you reboot, it should give the option of Win2k or Win ME. If the machine doesn't have a boot.ini file, look here on how to create one :-
